It’s about much more than just being happy.
If you’re like most people, you have moments of happiness but it’s not enough. Something is missing, and maybe you don’t know exactly what that is, but you have a feeling about it. What is the story you tell yourself about why you aren’t feeling happier?
We all want success, financial abundance, and the freedom to do what we want. Is that enough? Does it lead to a life of happiness and fulfillment? We work so hard to get all those things, and still find ourselves unhappy. What’s missing?
We think we have plenty of time to figure it out, so we blow off the deep thinking, but every so often we’re reminded by this nagging emptiness that appears. There has to be more to life than this. Is that what you say to yourself?
For most people, the day to day routines of career, and family or friends, isn’t giving the life satisfaction that they’d hoped. No matter how crazy the schedules people keep, being busy isn’t the answer. No matter how hard we pursue success and the money that will give us our freedom, that inevitable feeling; there has to be more than this, pops up and we can’t escape it. Most people don’t love their lives, and miss out on the happiness they deserve.
We have instant access to more information than we’ve ever had in the history of the earth, yet very few answers? The life that you ultimately will love is a life filled with meaning. What are you here for? What is your purpose? The electronic world is not where you get answers to your life’s most important questions.
The drive for instant connection via texting keeps us in a superficial state of mind…. Immediate feedback. We constantly check email…We want instant answers to every question. Our real and perceived friends on facebook that we like, and hope they like us and our comments, is another way to remind us to stay at the surface without looking for the answers within. We tweet and stay connected to everyone everywhere, but what are we really doing to ourselves? Have we lost connection with own wisdom? Do you know really know who you are anymore?
Here’s something to think about:
Imagine being filled with joy every day, and the feeling stays… it doesn’t leave you. Imagine feeling a deep sense of peace about your life… Imagine wondering how you can feel so good all the time….Now imagine that this could be you…
True happiness and fulfillment in your life will only come when you are living a life of meaning. All the fame and fortune you can imagine did not create a life of meaning for Whitney Houston. There are plenty of other rich and famous celebrities whose lives we envy until we realize the truth; you won’t find meaning in money or success.
A life of meaning comes from knowing and living your purpose, and growing and contributing beyond yourself. It’s not complicated. We get so caught up in the insignificant things in life that keep us busy. They distract us and waste our precious time which we will never recover. What are you wasting precious time on?
Take some quiet time and listen to your heart. What does your heart want for you? What is the wisdom that you hold inside? What is the gift you are here to give? Finding the answers are easier than you might think. And they will come when you least expect it. The answers may have surfaced already in moments of intuition, or a feeling that you should do something different that you just put on hold, or ignored. They will come again. Will you be ready to listen? Everything you want is waiting for you, but you will have to stop your busy life for a few moments to discover the answers.
